It is not a question of should or should not. You do it if you want to manage all of, or most of all of your digital assets from one common interface or if the prices we offer are better than the one offered by your current registrar. If none of those reasons are relevant, than do not do it. With whom you have registered your domain name does not [ or at least, it should not ] interfere or have any effect on us providing you any other services, i.e. hosting, web development, ssl certificates, etc.
To start your domain transfer, simply enter the domain name into the box at the top of this page and you'll be guided through the process. Make sure your domain is in an unlocked state, that you have the authorization code, and that your contact info is up to date with your current registrar. As long as the domain has been registered for at least 60 days, and you have full control of the domain at the current registrar [ by having access or being in possesion of ALL the informations outlined on the "easy steps" list above, there should be no issues with the process. A domain transfer usually takes about 5-7 days to complete.
If your domain is live! - in simple terms, it receives emails to your inboxes like [ "info @ mybusiness.com, john.doe @ mybusiness.com etc. ] and in adition to that it is also a domain via which your website is accessed, there are two options depending on which steps you need or intend to take:
01. you want to keep your site and hosting setup as is, than the procedure is as simple as with any domain that is parked or not live. just use the form above, and we will take care of the rest.
02. you want to move your site and hosting setup to us, first leave the domain transfer process aside for time being, and upon the completion of setting up your site and content to its new location, you may start initiating the domain transfer process. this will ensure that you do not encounter any down-time whatsoever.
All registrars are required to provide everything necessary to transfer your domain including allowing you to get the EPP authorization code, unlocking your domain and making any necessary changes to WHOIS such as updating information and removing privacy if necessary.
If your registrar is not allowing you to do any of these things, we would recommend filing a complaint on ICANN's transfer complaint form. To use this form you will need to know who your registrar is, and you can find out by using our WHOIS search form. Note : this form [ ICANN's one ] is not valid for disputes regarding domains registered under ANY ccTLDs [ country code top level domains ].
